The management suspected that their power costs were quite high as they had been steadily rising in recent years. The recent addition of a solar panel system had some effect however as the electrical system sometimes struggled under increased load, they realised that a comprehensive audit of their electrical infrastructure was necessary so they could make informed decisions about making some changes that hopefully resulted in some savings. The data from Fuseco's power quality site audit revealed some interesting challenges.

Fuseco analysed the NMI meter data and determined that a 100kVAr Sinexcel SVG unit would be sufficient to improve the power factor, balance the current across all phases and optimise the performance of the electrical system servicing the chicken farm. The owners chose a wall mount module to save space in the switch room, which was at a premium. Wall-mounted modules can be parallel connected to increase capacity which was also important to the owners for future expansion. During implementation, the Fuseco Power Quality team noticed a few interesting anomalies which related to how the solar system interacted with the PFC system and solving those anomalies gave Fuseco some insights that have been carried through to future installations. The 100kVAr Sinexcel SVG was installed and commissioned. Please note the screenshot of the Power Analysis screen during operation. At the time of commissioning, the load was quite low, however we can see that the load power factor across three phases of 0.80, 0.89 & 0.86 has been improved to 0.98.

The installation of a 100kVAr Sinexcel SVG in a wall-mounted solution achieved all of the customer’s objectives and facilitated the achievement of cost savings and optimum efficiency for the client.
